CFRD Participated in Earthquake Emergency Relief in Nepal Jajarkot
On
November 3rd, 2023, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Jajarkot and
Rukum West in western Nepal, greatly influencing local people’s life. The
earthquake resulted in collapse of houses and loss of livestock, making local households
homeless and stuck in livelihood difficulties. Nepal Office of China Foundation
for Rural Development responded at once and initiated the earthquake relief
action. In the action, International Department of the Central Committee of CPC
united us to provide supplies urgently needed after the disaster and donated
warm packages and family-life packages to 2000 households in 18 villages in 2
towns in the earthquake-stricken area, helping local people return to normal
life as soon as possible. Shanxinlianxin volunteer group united us to donate
366 blankets and padded coats to residents affected by the disaster to help
them get through the winter warmly. At the same time, China Foundation for
Rural Development united warm-hearted net friends in Smiling Children Program
to donate 3906 packs of food (each food package contains 12.5 kg
of rice, 2 kg of beans and 1 liter of cooking oil) to the earthquake-stricken
area to help local children solve the hunger issue. Recently implemented by
Nepal Office of China Foundation for Rural Development, all of the donated
supplies have been sent to the residents affected by the disaster.
