Story of beneficiary: Nepalese Youth Occupational
Training Program helps Dilip become self-reliant
Beneficiary Dilip
and study scene
Dilip
is a 23-year-old Nepalese youth and from Chitwan area in the south. After
graduation from primary school, he cannot continue his study for poverty in the
family and did farm work at home with his mother later. They lived a tough
life. In 2021, Dilip saw the admission notice in the newspaper. At once, he
submitted the application excitedly and passed the test to be a student. In
September of the same year, Dilip passed the exam and got the National Skill
Certificate by CTEVT.
Dilip
said that three months of high-intensity training not only let him gain electrician
skills but arouse his career interests, which helped him build confidence. In his
spare time, his neighbors often invited him to install the circuits and soon his
community cannot go without him. At first, he earned only 1000 rupees (about
$7) per time but now he has his own small appliance store and undertakes the community
house wiring and power maintenance work. He has already earned more than 2000
rupees (about $15) per door-to-door service. The new job gives his family a
good expectation and everyone is happy.
Dilip
remembered when he visited the Pokhara International Airport under construction
during his training and the management and technology of China-invested
enterprise left a deep impression on him. He still hopes to find a job in a
Chinese company in the future to improve himself faster. It is his biggest
desire to learn Chinese technology and experience to build up his country.
“Really
thanks for the program that helps me learn skills and be self-reliant. I hope
that in the future, there could be advanced training courses in program so that
I have the opportunity to develop my skills further.” In return visits, many
youths like Dilip all expected.
