On March 5-9, 2023, the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Right council was held in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Wang Jun, the Deputy Executive Director of CFRD, attended the session and delivered a speech. During this period, we organized a side event on the theme of "Strengthening Human Rights Protection and Promoting Global Development: The Role of Civil Society Organizations" in cooperation with China NGO Network for International Exchanges and other organizations. CFRD were granted special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations in 2011, and since 2016, we have participated in 16 United Nations-related meetings and activities, both online and offline.

At the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, Wang Jun, the deputy executive director of CFRD gave a speech at the Dialogue Meeting on Myanmar Issue Report and introduced the programs CFRD conducted in Myanmar and our effort to secure children’s rights. Speaking on the topic of guaranteeing the right to food for children in developing countries, he introduced Smiling Children School Feeding Program, which we have carried out in Ethiopia, Myanmar, Nepal, and other countries.

In cooperation with China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) and other organizations, we collaboratively held a side event on the theme of "Strengthening Human Rights Protection and Promoting Global Development: The Role of Civil Society Organizations" to deeply explore the issues like the exchanges and mutual understanding between China and foreign culture, securing the right to develop and cultural right. The representatives of CFRD, Geneva Agape Foundation, Chinese Association for International Understanding(CAFIU) and Peaceland Foundation delivered keynote speeches. The Deputy Executive Director Wang Jun introduced our international programs in eliminating poverty, improving education quality, guaranteeing clean water and other aspects, expressing that we will participate more in relevant activities to better take advantages of social organization.

In the thematic side event, an interactive session was also set, during which several representatives actively spoke out. They recognized China’s effort in securing human rights and promoting global development and expected Chinese NGOs to participate more deeply in the discussion about the international development agenda on the international platform like the UN to further enhance the international influence of Chinese NGOs.
