Chevron launches “Light Up the Future” Program in China Providing Education Assistance to Truck Drivers’ Children
Chevron and the China Foundation for Rural Development announced the launch of the Chevron Education Assistance Program, “Light Up the Future” on September 20.
According to data released by the Ministry of Transport, more than 11 million freight vehicles and more than 17 million truck drivers in the road freight industry completed 73% of China’s commercial freight volume in 2022, making an important contribution to economic and social development.
Children’s education expenses are part of the truck driver’s family expenses. Partnering with China Foundation for Rural Development, Chevron donated RMB 1.5 million for "Light Up the Future" program to provide education assistance for truck drivers’ children to reduce the truck drivers’ financial burden and improve their children’s access to education.

Chen Hongtao, Executive Director of China Foundation for Rural Development, said in his address that working with committed companies to fulfill social responsibilities, facilitating the future development of the youth, and participating in rural revitalization are in line with the Foundation’s vision and mission. “We look forward to a successful "Light Up the Future" program with the support of a caring enterprise and the government.”

Song noted that “by providing education assistance to truck driver families, we hope to not only reduce some of their financial burdens, but also empower their children with improved access to education, paving the way for a better future.”

The “Light Up the Future” program is a partnership between Chevron and the China Foundation for Rural Development to support rural revitalization. The program strives to promote development of underdeveloped areas and underprivileged families and strengthen public welfare in China.
