The Love Parcel Project
was launched in the Great Hall of the People on April 26, 2009, under the
guidance of State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and
Development, with special support from China Post Group, and jointly sponsored
by the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and CCTV-6 Channel. The project
aims to improve the comprehensive development and living conditions of rural
students in poor and disadvantaged areas. As of April 26, 2019, the project has
received more than 700,000,000 donations, including 2,320,000 individual
donations, 170,000 enterprises donations and more than 4,000,000,000 online
donations. Over the past decade, more than 6 million students from more than
28,000 schools have benefited from the Love Parcel Project.
Love Parcel
Project has become one of the philanthropic projects with most funds raised
from the public in the past ten years. The Love Parcel Project has been carried
out for ten years, with a total of 702 million yuan donated by the society, of
which 83% are donated by the public. The transparent, accessible, convenient
and experiential design of the Love Parcel Project greatly promotes public
participation; hence the project is welcomed by individual donors.
Love Parcel Project has
become one of the philanthropic projects with most beneficiaries in poor and
disadvantaged areas. Love Parcel Project has delivered love parcels to more
than 6 million students from 28,000 schools in 853 counties of 31 provinces (or
municipalities directly under the Central Government, or autonomous regions)
and more than 6,500 families in Yushu, Qinghai. Love parcels, including art
parcels, music parcels and sports parcels, effectively solved the current
problem of lacking music, sports and art supplies for pupils in poor and
disadvantaged areas. They also effectively promoted the development of music,
art and physical education courses in school, achieving the goal of the project.

Yan Zhitao, Deputy
Secretary-General of the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, announced
the new strategy for the Love Parcel Project: to develop in depth in China and
expand overseas. On the domestic side, the Love Parcel Project will expand from
focusing on the improvement of the living conditions to comprehensive
development of pupils in poor and disadvantaged areas. The project will also
add courses and training for pupils besides delivering the various parcels. At
the same time, the project continues to focus on the serious poverty-stricken
areas and the Three Districts and Three Prefectures, and explores the mode of
centralized integrated funding. Internationally, China Foundation for Poverty
Alleviation began to explore the internationalization of the Love Parcel
Project, which is also called Panda Pack Project, since 2015, and in 2018, more
than 50,000 Packs were distributed in four countries as pilot distributions. In
2019, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, together with Alibaba Philanthropy,
plans to deliver 200,000 Packs countries along the Belt and Road. The
"Gift from the Panda Land" will be distributed to more and more students
in need.
