Caterpillar Foundation relief supplies have arrived in the city of Gongyi, Henan province

The torrential rains in the past few days have caused great losses in Henan province. As of 4 a.m. on July 22, about 3 million people in Henan had been affected, 33 had died, eight were still missing, and more than 370,000 people had been relocated to safe places. Henan, ravaged by torrential rains, has stirred the hearts of people across the country. China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation launched the Henan rain-triggered disaster relief action at the first time.

Early in the morning on July 21, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation urgently dispatched 1,000 disaster response emergency packages donated by Caterpillar Foundation from CFPA Chengdu disaster preparedness warehouse to Gongyi, Henan. The packages contain thin blankets, adult raincoats, band-aids, masks, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper, sanitary napkins and other materials, which can provide daily necessities for 1,000 families for temporary emergency use.

The Caterpillar disaster response emergency packages can quickly meet the needs of the people in the disaster area mainly because CFPA has cooperated with Caterpillar Foundation to carry out disaster preparedness and relief program since 2015. The Caterpillar Foundation donated funds to CFPA for pre-disaster emergency relief supplies and emergency safety training, so as to provide support for rapid response in case of disaster.
