Workshop on Capacity Building in poverty alleviation for Sudan’s NGO

Background

African poverty population accounts for a third of the world's poor. Over the past 30 years, the rate ofAfrican poverty population of countries in sub-saharan Africa has reached up to 50%. CFPA initiates Workshop on Capacity Building in poverty alleviation for Sudan’s NGO, aiming to share the experience of poverty reduction and social development of China and improve Sudan’s non-government organization’s capacity in project implementation of poverty reduction and social development.

Project goals

Main goals:

  1. share the experience of poverty reduction and social development of China
  2. improve Sudan’s non-government organization’s capacity in project implementation of poverty reduction and social development
  3. help African countries cast off poverty and get rich
  4. realize UN Millennium Development Goals

Specific goals

This workshop is devoted to make participators better understand experience and ways of poverty reduction and deepen exchanges and cooperation between China and Sudan’s NGOs.


Project contacts

The workshop consists of two parts of experts lecture and field visit. Expert lecture mainly covers overview of China’s social and economic development and poverty reduction, development course and experience of China’s non-government organizations, pattern and effect of project implementation of poverty reduction and development of some related NGOs. In field visit part, participants will visit the related projects in order to better understand management pattern, specific implementation mechanism and practical effect of related projects.

Project Case

Apr.2010, CFPA united International Poverty Reduction Center in China held the Workshop on Capacity Building in Poverty Reduction for Sudan’s NGO, invited 20 Sudan's NGO and related government officials to China, conducted 10 dissertations, 4 cases teaching and arranged maternal and infant healthcare project study tour for them in Yulong, Yunnan.
